What should I do on my first visit?

On your first visit to the studio, we recommend you arrive 15 minutes early to sign in, fill out our waiver, and get accustomed to the studio. To expedite the process, you can create an account online through our Momence page.

Upon entering the studio, please remove your shoes and leave them in the lobby. We ask that you bring valuables into the practice space with you, and we provide cubbies for you to store items in each studio. Please remember to turn off or silence your cell phones to mitigate interruptions during class.

What should I wear/bring to class?

You don’t need designer yoga gear, just wear clothing that you feel comfortable moving in. Clothing that is stretchy and not too baggy works best. Most students prefer practicing barefoot.

Yoga mats are available for rent at the studio for $2 and small hand towels are available at no charge. If you tend to sweat a lot, we recommend packing a towel for class.

We have green cleaning products vinegar/water/essential oil mat spray as well as stronger disinfecting wipes.

Use resources responsibly and keep in mind that everything you use impacts the environment directly.

What class is right for me?

Our class schedule is intentionally diverse. To find the right class for you, browse our class descriptions and read our teacher bios.

For beginners, advanced beginners, and those coming back to their practice after a break, we recommend our Yoga Fundamentals class. This class builds students’ understanding of yoga postures, transitions, breath, Sanskrit, variations and modifications, and more, so that students feel comfortable entering any class.

Another great option for new students is our Mysore Ashtanga program. Mysore-style yoga is like a private lesson in a group setting.  In this traditional way of practicing Ashtanga Yoga, students each work individually with a teacher in group setting, practicing a sequence adapted to each individual. To learn how to begin a Mysore Ashtanga practice at our studio, please see our info page

How much does it cost?

If you are new to the studio, we recommend you start with our New Student Offer. Sign up for the New Student Offer here.

I’m nervous about practicing in public, will everyone look at me?

Most students are so focused on what they are doing, they have no idea what other students are doing around them. Don’t worry, we have all been beginners and there is no judgement.

What is the class cancellation policy?

We ask that students please cancel their registration at least two hours before class starts to ensure other students can take open spots. You can cancel in your booking dashboard or contact the studio.

Practice tips:

·       Avoid eating large meals in the 2 hours before your practice

·       Hydrate before and after practice

·       Practice ahimsa (nonviolence) towards yourself; aim to find the balance between effort and ease in your practice

·       Reserve classes and workshops early to secure your spot and allow our staff to prepare the space to fit the number of registered students

I really enjoy the neighborhood feel and the friendliness of the staff/teachers. The studio is also beautiful.
I really like all my teachers. I felt very shy about practicing but the instructors are really good. They give modifications for everything. I’m even starting to do inversions and slowly figuring out how to do pigeon pose.
I like that you are very open and that practice is about more than getting a good workout.
The alignment flow has been crucial to me as an at home yogi attending my first groups classes- i love them! All the instructors I have had have been encouraging and run great classes
It’s a welcoming atmosphere with a variety of class options. The teachers are also very knowledgeable and I appreciate that they are able to recommend modifications for beginners.
Great neighborhood yoga spot. I’ve been waiting for a studio to open in Brookland for awhile, and so glad that this is the one! Love the space and the teachers are great.
